Our latest Sportsfan 1330 Student/Athlete of the Week Award winner – brought to you by Forest City Dental – is Belvidere senior Dane Jankiewicz.

This award honors those athletes who make major contributions in the classroom, their schools and their communities, and Dane fits those criteria to a “T.”

He competes in both cross country and track, and served as captain for both teams.

He carries a 3.95 GPA, and is involved with the B-Club at Belvidere.

And he also takes a  lot of time for voluntary work, including reading to elementary students, helping to organize and run a youth 5K race in the fall, working with the local Make-A-Wish Foundation, and helping out with special needs students at the school.

And next year, Dane will attend UW-Platteville for engineering.
