Junior right-handed pitcher Zack Jones can now add All-American to his many honors after a stellar season for the Rockford University Regents.

Jones, a Harlem High School graduate, was named an Honorable Mention All-American by D3baseball.com. He becomes the first Regent since 2010 (Kyle Standridge) and just fourth overall, to earn All-American status. In addition to being recognized as All-American, Jones was also named Second Team All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

All-American is just the most recent accolade for Jones, who has compiled an impressive list of awards and honors this year. He was also tabbed First Team All-Midwest Region by D3baseball.com and Second Team All-Midwest Region by the ABCA. Prior to that, Jones was voted the 2019 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-NACC.

Statistically, Jones compiled one of the best seasons in RU history. He allowed one earned run or fewer in five of his eight starts and struck out at least 10 batters on five different occasions.

The right-hander finished the regular season at or near the top of the NACC in every pitching category, leading the league in earned run average (1.68), strikeouts (85), WHIP (0.87), and hits allowed per nine innings (5.32); while tying for the conference lead in complete games (4). He also finished fourth in strikeouts per nine innings (11.93), fifth in innings pitched (64.1) and tied for eighth in wins (5).

Opponents hit just .167 against him, which is the lowest for any Regent pitcher with at least four starts since the creation of the NACC. Nationally, Jones ranks among the best in all of NCAA Division III in five different categories. He is ninth in the country in WHIP, 10th in hits allowed per nine innings, 20th in earned run average, 23rd in strikeouts per nine innings and 25th in strikeouts.
