On Monday, the Greater Rockford Italian American Association canceled an event that has gone on every year for the last 40 years at Boylan High School. Festa Italiana. This isn’t the first of many events to get canceled all over the Stateline due to COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, GRIAA announced the cancelation of all their summer events such as The Women’s Italian Golf Outing, The Men’s Italian Open, and Festa Italiana, saying, “The safety of our community, volunteers, and our attendees is our highest priority.”

This is the first event of the summer, the 40th semi-annual Pec Thing and ByronFest were both also canceled last week.
