Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) received a generous $5,000 grant from The Mill Foundation on August 8, 2020. Funds from this grant will be used to support girls in the organization’s Project Opportunity program with an emphasis on cybersecurity.

This comprehensive cybersecurity curriculum helps girls build skills in managing personal information and their digital footprint, cyberbullying, privacy and security, and overall online safety. Thanks to this program, Girl Scouts become savvier about their digital activities and protect their data from potential hackers and predators. This curriculum also supports Girl Scouts’ emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and STEM careers.

GSNI would like to thank The Mill Foundation for speaking up on behalf of girls, for joining in the Girl Scout Mission where girls have a space all their own, where their interests, their experience, and their leadership—today and tomorrow—is the top priority!

The Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois believe every girl can change the world. With us, Girl Scouts develop independence and confidence to guide their own lives and build a better world. They put girls in the driver’s seat and encourage them to customize their own experience. With programs focused on the outdoors, career and interest exploration, travel and global community, and practical life skills, in addition to community service projects, every girl can unlock her full potential and be amazing!

They serve 16 counties including parts or all of Boone, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago. To volunteer, reconnect, donate, or join, visit www.girlscoutsni.org or call 844-GSNI-4-ME (844-476-4463).
