Do you have any old or broken cell phones and/or tablets lying around the house that you have no idea what to do with? Well, one local non-profit needs your help by donating those items to deployed soldiers. Keeping Northern Illinois Beautiful is collecting old cell phones and tablets for their “Cell Phones for Soldiers.”

The group will recycle these devices and then use the money to buy gift cards for the soldiers so they can call home for free. It doesn’t matter the make or the model, all devices are accepted.

The two drop-off locations are at 4665 Hydraulic Road in Rockford (open Tuesdays 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and 8409 N. 2nd Street in Machesney Park (Open Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.).
