SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome Dr. Vijay P. Roy to the Heart Institute (1340 Charles Street, Suite 300, Rockford, IL). Dr. Roy received his medical degree from Rajendra Medical College in Ranchi, India, and completed both his residency and his fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

Originally from Deoghar, India, Dr. Roy brings 22 years of practicing experience to SwedishAmerican. He is on the American Board of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. His special medical interests include Bariatrics/Obesity, Cardiac Health, Disease Prevention, Diabetes Management, Fitness/Exercise, Patient Education, Preventive Medicine, Weight Loss, and Women’s Health.

“After the loss of many near and dear ones due to cardiovascular diseases, I developed a desire to work in the field of cardiology to generate awareness in the community about this killer disease and promoting prevention,” Dr. Roy said. “I try to be seen as a partner and a caregiver while my patients try to achieve the goal of having a healthy heart. I derive great satisfaction seeing my patient achieve that goal.”
