Northern Illinois Raptor Rehabilitation and Education (NIRRE) is operated solely based upon grants and the generous donations of the Rock River Valley community. This wonderful group of volunteers, helps to rescue, rehabilitate and release birds of prey that are found in and around the Rockford area. From Kestrels and Owls, to Eagles and even Turkey Vultures, the NIRRE provides educational programs with schools, churches and organizations to learn more about the wildlife in our surrounding area.

You can even “adopt” one of their educational birds with a one time donation, or become a member to receive access to their online newsletter. Anytime you rehabilitate animals, there is always a laundry list of items that are needed for the daily care and feeding of the animals. NIRRE is no exception. You can check out their website, learn about volunteer opportunities and even take a peek at the birds and what items are on their wish list by visiting their website here.
