The 5th ranked Fighting Illini are on the road Saturday afternoon in Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers. The Illini have won 6 straight but their last 2 victories haven’t been as easy as they should have been. Ayo Dosunmu continues to be the rock that holds the Illini together and big man Kofi Cockburn continues to get better and refine his offensive game each time out. Trent Frazier has also stepped up as of late as well.
On Saturday afternoon the Illini will take on a Minnesota team led by guard Marcus Carr who averages 19.4 ppg and 5.1 assists per game as well. Carr really is the straw that stirs the drink for the Golden Gophers offense. Look for Carr to get a steady diet of both Trent Frazier and Ayo Dosunmu defensively all day long. The Golden Gophers only have one other player averaging double figures and that is 7’0 Center Liam Robbins who averages 12.9 ppg. Robbins also averages nearly 7 boards a game. It will be Kofi Cockburn’s job to shut Robbins down.
Tip off for the Illini and Minnesota is scheduled for 2:30p CT on Fox
