A Rockford girl is raising awareness about childhood cancer and wants to bring a life saving program to Rockford. 6-year-old Aliyah Garcia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May of 2020. She was entered into the Be A Match program and was matched with a donor in Germany. Thanks to the program she is cancer free but still receives post bone marrow transplant chemotherapy treatment.
She started a lemonade stand to raise awareness for the Be A Match program and bring oncology services to Rockford. The Be A Match registry connects patients searching for a cure and life-saving bone marrow donors. It is the largest and most diverse donor registry in the world. Keep up the fight Aliyah!
