ROCKFORD— It’s Valentine’s Day. If you’re looking for last minute gift ideas, there are a ton of great local places that have some amazing tidbits that say, “I love you!”
A traditional Valentine’s Day includes some “must haves” – dinner reservations at a romantic place, flowers, and something sweet like chocolates. Believe it or not, there are actually a ton of local chocolatiers right here in the 815.
Crimson Ridge
Not only does Crimson Ridge have a huge, gorgeous selection of roses and jewelry, they have Valentine’s gifts that any woman would love. From comfy pajamas to slippers, to Valentine’s Day make up bags, Crimson Ridge also has delicious Godiva chocolate, candles, bath bombs, it’s your one stop shop if you forgot to get that special someone in your life a valentine.
Sugar Britches
An old-fashioned candy store located in the heart of Rockton, Sugar Britches not only has a huge variety of candy but hand-crafted chocolates as well including BOOZY chocolates! One of my favorites is the Fireball Whiskey Truffle that has Fireball all wrapped up inside with the perfect mix of milk and semi-sweet chocolate. Also, if you’re looking for a heart-shaped treat, they have a “Rum Strawberry Heart” and a “Buttershot my Heart” which are both to die for.
The Little Chocolatier
Located by Forest City Church, Dennis Little has been crafting his tasty chocolates and popcorn for over 30 years. They have some really delicious home made treats including their mint fluffs.
Artale Wine Co.
Looking for a special bottle of wine to celebrate with tonight? Artale Wine Co. has a Valentine’s Day box that comes with three different red wines, great for any palate. Sweet and chocolaty; light and fruity; and full-bodied and smooth. Included is an assorted four-piece chocolate truffle from world-class CacaoCuvee of Rockford. According to owner, Anthony Artale, they now offer a delivery option as well.
