ROCKFORD — The city is looking for residents and organizations who want to create new events this summer funded by the Forward for Fun initiative.

The program, which was approved by City Council on Feb. 22, allocates $10,500 to each of the city’s 14 wards to create new, free events this spring and summer.

Background: Forward for Fun aims to ‘energize’ Rockford’s pandemic recovery

The goal of the initiative is to bring together residents for new, fun events while supporting local small businesses and entrepreneurs. The initiative is funded, in part, by the American Rescue Plan Act and supported by Hard Rock Rockford, Northwestern Illinois Building Trades, Community Foundation of Northern Illinois and FurstStaffing.
