ROCKFORD — The Rockford Police Department is renewing its efforts to hire entry-level officers.

The city has an authorized strength of 302 officers and has put out calls for applicants several times since November.

The starting salary is $59,169.

“The Rockford Police Department is looking for individuals that want to be part of something bigger than themselves,” Recruiting Officer Katy Statler said in a news release. “Being a police officer in the city of Rockford is one of the best choices you can make if you’re ready for a career, and not just a job.”
