ROCKFORD — Twisted Crypt Haunted House will bring its scares back to Rockford for a ninth season.

The 10,000-square-foot space at 5420 E. State St. is filled with detailed sets to give you the chills and costumed actors who deliver a series of jump scares.

Twisted Crypt Haunted House is 10,000 square feet of indoor chaos, gore, mystery, mazes, and interactive showrooms,” the locally operated company said in a news release Wednesday. “You experience sights, sounds, smells, and creatures lurking around every corner.”

Opening night will be Friday, Sept. 16, and it will be open the following weekends through Halloween.

Twisted Crypt was named a Top 10 Illinois Haunted House by HauntedIllinois.com in 2016, 2019 and 2021. It was also voted a Top 10 Illinois Haunted House by visitors to the HauntedIllinois.com site in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021.

And, HauntedHouseChicago.com awarded Twisted Crypt actress Amanda Powers the 2019 Jim Warfield Acting Award, which is given to the top haunted attraction actor in the Chicagoland area.

Twisted Crypt Productions was founded by Peter Dunn and Matt Johnson in 2013. The business partners were both raised in Rockford and graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School. Both continue to work and live in the Rockford area.
