ROCKFORD— The Rockford Board of Elections has opened a new offsite location intended to give city residents greater access to early voting.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 N. Church St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday starting today. There are also some weekend hours and extended hours as Election Day nears. (See the full schedule below.)

“The offsite voting location coupled with early voting at our offices on Sixth Street allows for more access and fewer barriers for people to vote early,” Stacey Bixby, executive director of the board of elections, said in a news release. “It’s a right of every registered voter, and opening another location is our effort to make sure everyone who wants to cast a ballot can.”

Early voting for the Nov. 8 general election began Sept. 29 statewide and continues until Nov. 7.  Early voting is also available for city residents at the main office of the Rockford Board of Elections, 301 S. Sixth St.

There are also two early voting locations for Winnebago County residents who live outside the city: Those are at the Harlem Alpine Centre, 7933-C N. Alpine Road, Loves Park, and the Winnebago County Administration Building, 404 Elm St., fourth floor, in downtown Rockford.

You can also vote by mail prior to Election Day. All requests to vote by mail must be received by Nov. 3. Ballots must be postmarked for return by Election Day on Nov. 8.

“Whether you vote early, by mail, or in-person on Election Day, your vote is safe and secure,” Bixby said. “We look forward to serving the citizens of Rockford on this upcoming General Election Day.”
