MACHESNEY PARK — A new fitness facility is coming to the village by the end of the year.

D1 Training is a chain fitness business founded in 2001 that offers various training sessions and pre-planned workouts to members.

Plans for the business were teased by Mayor Steve Johnson on Wednesday night in his State of the Parks address. He also said Tropical Smoothie Café and Five Guys are coming to Machesney Park.

The business is moving into 1003 West Lane Road, Suite A, at the Machesney Crossings strip center, according to a village building permit. That’s behind Old Navy at the corner of Illinois 173 and North Second Street.

The business has been a priority to the village board for around six months, Johnson said, and construction started late last month.

Johnson is most excited at the opportunity to provide variety for residents of Machesney Park and attract people to the area.

“We’re giving the consumer another choice. That’s what I’m all about, giving people choices” Johnson said. “You want to give them a reason as to why they come to Machesney Park. Choices are very, very important in my eyes.”

D1 Training also has locations in Aurora and Bloomingdale in Illinois and more in surrounding states.
