ROCKFORD — Rockford IceHogs players will give you the shirt off their back this weekend as part of an annual auction that raises money to support multiple organizations in the community.
The annual jersey auction takes place after the Hogs play the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday at the BMO Center. It will be part of the team’s Salute to Screw City night, which celebrates all things 815. The jerseys for sale will be the special Screw City uniforms the players are wearing for the third time this season.

“The fans have really been excited about these jerseys since the first time we brought them out in December, and we wore them again in February,” said Dave Costello, the IceHogs manager of marketing, digital media and community relations. “We actually sold some replica versions in the store and it’s done really well. We’ve had to order two or three times to keep up with that demand.
“Maybe most importantly, the players love them, too.”

This year, the money raised from the auction will go to the IceHogs Community Fund for the first time. That fund is expected to have more than $100,000 when the auction totals are added to other raffles and fundraisers held throughout the season.
“We’re going to be able to impact numerous organizations,” Costello said.
