ROCKFORD — OrthoIllinois and Rockford Spine Center announced Monday that they will merge this summer.

OrthoIllinois, which provides bone and joint health care across northern Illinois, and Rockford Spine Center, which is dedicated exclusively to spine care, are expected to complete their integration June 1.

Rockford Spine Center will become part of Ortho at the conclusion of the merger, and its practice will remain at its location on McFarland Road. There will be no disruption to patient care and no change in providers or staff, the companies said in a news release.

“Combining resources with Rockford Spine Center positions OrthoIllinois to ensure patients throughout the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin regions have access to the highest level of skilled and compassionate spine care,” Anthony Brown, CEO at OrthoIllinois, said in a news release.  “We are excited about our future as part of this newly aligned organization.”

Rockford Spine Center has two board-certified spine surgeons: Dr. Michael Roh and Dr. Christopher Sliva.

OrthoIllinois was founded in 1967 and has 49 physicians specializing in joint, pediatric, trauma, spine, upper extremity and sports medicine orthopedics. It operates clinics in Rockford, Algonquin, Elgin and McHenry.

“OrthoIllinois shares our commitment to providing the highest level of comprehensive care and an exceptional patient experience,” Roh said in a news release. “The combined organization creates a larger, more comprehensive care network that improves access to the full range of bone and joint care in our community.”

OrthoIllinois also has neurosurgeon Dr. Todd Alexander in Rockford, and the company expects to add an orthopedic surgeon in fall.

“The decision to integrate was a positive agreement and reflects a mutually-beneficial strategy by our organizations to provide a solid foundation for the future,” Sliva said in a news release.
