ROCKFORD — Spencer’s has opened its second location in the Rockford area with a new 3,000-square-foot space inside Forest Plaza on East State Street.
The unconventional retailer took over the former Sally Beauty Supply at 6125 E. State St. in Forest Plaza. Sally Beauty Supply is now at 741 S. Perryville Road next to Chipotle.

Spencer’s has operated inside the CherryVale Mall, 7200 Harrison Ave. in Cherry Valley, for years and remains open inside the mall. The new storefront opened one week ago.
The rebellious retailer is known for novelty and gag gifts, music-themed merchandise, body jewelry, clothing, collectibles, lingerie, irreverent games and other unconventional items.
Spencers opened its first retail store in 1963 at Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey, and it now has more than 670 stores across the United States and Canada.
