ROCKFORD — Sierra opens its first location in Rockford and fifth in Illinois on Saturday.

The retailer of active and outdoor brands will mark its grand opening at 8 a.m. Saturday at 6451 E. State St. at Forest Plaza.

The 16,000-square-foot store, which is part of the T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods family, boasts a wide selection of outdoor gear and footwear at prices up to 60% less than other department stores. It’s billed as a one-stop shop for active wear, outdoor essentials, home decor and camping gear.

“We’re thrilled to be opening in Rockford, as the Illinois community is quite familiar with Sierra’s brand and offerings,” Elisa Pouliot, vice president and Sierra marketing director, said in a news release. “With cold weather and the holidays approaching, there’s no better time to start shopping Sierra. We pride ourselves on being a go-to for families’ fall active and outdoor essentials as well as a great place to save big on holiday gifting for the whole family.”
