ROCKFORD — Early voting begins Thursday for the March 19 primary election.

Voters will select their party’s nominee for United States president, representatives in Congress and county offices such as County Board.

“Voters may vote early before Election Day beginning 40 days before any election,” County Clerk Lori Gummow said in a news release. “We want to give voters plenty of notice to allow ample opportunity to cast their ballots this spring.”

Voters who live inside the city of Rockford can cast their ballot early at the Rockford Board of Elections Office, 301 S. Sixth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Voters who live in Winnebago County but outside of the city of Rockford can cast their vote at the Administration Building, 404 Elm St., fourth floor, Rockford, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Winnebago County will offer extended hours from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 11 through March 15. Additional voting times are:

  • Saturday, March 9; 8:30 a.m. to Noon
  • Sunday, March 10; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 16; 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 17; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 18; 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Feb. 20 is the last day to register to vote for the March primary. Then grace period registration and voting begins the next day.
