Here are today’s Nerd News! headlines:

F9 topped the box office again over the 4th of July weekend raking in $22.8 million. In the second spot was Boss Baby 2 at $16 million and the next installment in the Purge series, The Forever Purge, came in 3rd at around $12 million.

A series based on the popular Alien films is coming to FX. The Ripley character played by Sigourney Weaver, will not, however, be the focus of the show. The showrunner, Noah Hawley, says that Ripley’s story has already been told, and they will instead explore what would happen on Earth if the aliens could not be contained. Two scripts are reportedly already completed and production will begin in 2022.

Actor Stephen Dorff, remember him from Blade, or perhaps those Blu e-Cigarette commercials? Well he is slamming the new Black Widow movie, saying he is “embarassed” for Scarlett Johansson. In a tweet, he also said that the film “looks like garbage,” and like a “bad video game.” He also claimed that he wouldn’t want to be in those movies and will instead wait for the next Kubrick and act for him instead. Black Widow hits theaters this weekend if you wanna judge for yourself. For reference, though, here’s a rundown of how Dorff’s movies have done thanks to Rotten Tomatoes.
